Sitting in front of her vanity, McKenna took a deep breath and studied her reflection. She found herself feeling anxious and jittery, this was her first real date in a while and she didn't want to mess it up. Her Aunt Tempie had a friend who's son was around the same age as Kenna was. Not only that but he too was of a supernatural heritage so she didn't have to really hide who she was. That was always the most complicated part of being a firestarter. You could trust no one because they could be a demon waiting to enslave you, or some kind of evil waiting to end you. No, Kenna had taken to keeping contact in a romantic sense pretty limited but she was willing to give Gabriel a chance. Her aunt had yet to lead her astray thus far.
Grabbing her white gold phoenix necklace she clasped it around her neck before grabbing some simple earrings to wear. She spent the past three days debating over what to wear and every time she thought she had the perfect outfit picked out she'd find some flaw with it. She finally settled on a comfortable jean skirt and a black tank top with red sequences decorating the front of it. She had a black sweater to wear over it in the event that she got cold but that didn't happen very often. Glancing once more at her reflection McKenna finally stood up from her vanity and grabbed her purse. She really hoped this night would go well.
Heading downstairs she found her aunt sitting in her favorite chair in the living room a big grin on her face. "You look beautiful Ken. That boy is a fool if he doesn't realize what a beauty he has in his hands." Her aunt said rising from her chair, giving her niece a once over. McKenna blushed under her aunt's praise, never being one to take compliments all that well. "It takes more than beauty to appeal to a person Aunt Tempie." McKenna countered with a small smile. Her Aunt simply shook her head and returned to her chair. "You are the package deal and he can't do better than you but you are right."
The sound of the doorbell halted the conversation between the two. Suddenly very nervous McKenna just stayed where she was unsure of if she should answer the door or just fake sick. One glance at her Aunt told her the latter wouldn't be an option. Smiling she walked over and kissed her Aunt's cheek before making her way to the door. Pausing when her hand rested on the knob, McKenna whispered a small hope that the night went well and opened the door. What she saw on the other side was by far the most handsome man she'd seen in sometime.

This was a seriously unnecessary move on his mother’s part but that was just his opinion. Setting him up on a date with someone he didn’t even know screamed a tad desperate for him. So he wasn’t exactly dating anyone who cares? It wasn’t like he was getting far too old to find someone. Hell he was way too young to get married. Gabriel exhaled softly and closed his eyes and shook those thoughts away from his head. His mother had thought that this was a good idea and she seemed really excited. Besides, she knew the girl’s aunt so what could possibly go wrong?
Licking his lips he turned to look at the house and sighed to himself again. Turning the ignition off he killed the engine and pulled the key out. He grabbed the container and the simple bouquet of flowers his mother had prepared and given him earlier before shooing him away.
Opening the car door he slid out and shut it close. He pressed the lock button before shoving the keys into his black leather jacket. Making his way towards the front door he mentally made note to himself to be courteous and polite not that he didn’t have the natural ability to do so but this was something he wasn’t jumping up and down when his mother broke the news to him so he had to remind himself.
Stopping at the front door he paused and took a moment. “Here we go…” He murmured to himself once had gathered all his bearings and pushed the doorbell. He looked down at the black sneakers he was wearing and wondered for a moment if he had picked the right shoes. His musings were put to an abrupt halt when the door opened. Lifting up his head his eyes landed on a beautiful girl and totally caught him off guard.
“Uhh… hi.” He said when he finally found his voice. “I’m Gabriel.” He added and offered her a smile.
“This is for you…” He said glad that he actually remembered he was holding items in his hand and handed her the flowers. “I’m supposed to give this to your aunt. It’s from my mom.” He added as he held up the container a bit for her to see.

McKenna didn't know how to react at first. She'd seen a lot of attractive men but Gabriel seriously took the cake. Smiling at him McKenna remained silent for a moment, trying her hardest to look him over without being obvious. When he finally spoke he snapped her out of her own thouhts and brought her back to the moment.
"Hi." She replied softly, still shocked at how Gabriel was not at all what she imagined him to be. She just assumed he'd be some average looking guy, like all the other supernaturals she'd met over the years. "I'm McKenna." She offered when he introduced himself. She had been taught manners and no matter how attractive someone was she wasn't about to forget those.
Seeing the bouquet of flowers, McKenna took them with a smile. Bringing them to her face she took a deep breath inhaling their lovely scent. "They are beautiful Gabriel, thank you." Taking a step back she made room for him to come in. She wanted to put the flowers in some water and give her Aunt the container his mother sent over. "Give me one minute and I'll be ready." Leaving him by the door, McKenna quickly handed her aunt the container then put the flowers in some water and returned to Gabriel.
"Shall we?" Adjusting her purse strap on her shoulder McKenna shut the door behind her and Gabriel and looked over at him. She felt her heart beginning to race again and her palms getting a bit sweaty. She needed to calm herself down before she did some damage.

McKenna. Mentally Gabriel repeated the name in his head. The name was as beautiful as her face and quite honestly he was completely taken by surprise where she was concerned. While he wasn’t someone that was completely and utterly shallow, he never really believed in blind dates only because there had been a number of blind dates that his friends back home had gone to and he has yet to hear good news for them. Hell he had been in a couple and both had been a flop. But then again both dates had not been set up by his mother, surely his own flesh and blood wouldn’t throw him in a situation where he’d be completely awkward and uncomfortable all night would she? He didn’t think so.
"They are beautiful Gabriel, thank you."
He opened his mouth to tell her that it wasn’t exactly his idea but he opted against it before he could actually say anything about it. Instead he offered her a smile and told her that she was welcome. It was then that he had told about the container her aunt was supposed to receive.
Gabriel stepped inside the house and handed her the container as well. At her advise he nodded and just stood there waiting by the door. When she disappeared out of his sight he allowed his brown eyes to give the living room a quick scan. Her and her aunt had a lovely home and he couldn’t help but be reminded of how things used to be before him and his mom moved out here. He still had boxes to unpack and while he had been meaning to do that he just couldn’t help but still feel like he didn’t belong there. Ugly truth was, he felt like he didn’t belong anywhere anymore.
“Shall we?"
Blinking he smiled at her and nodded. He had waited for her to step out the door first before he followed. He walked towards his and huffed out softly as silence began to take them over. “I’m sorry if your aunt forced you into this. I told my mom they didn’t have to do this.” He finally said breaking the ice between them. Fishing out his keys he pushed the unlock button and opened the passenger door for her.

McKenna had been set up by friends on blind dates, well three that she could actually call blind dates. They told her she wasn't social enough so she decided to give it a try. All three of them were flops, and the reason was not her but the guys she went out with. Their personalities clashed or they were only after one thing and well none of them were of supernatural heritage. McKenna didn't like to be judgmental about things like that but with the rareness of what she was she had to be extra careful. A common human wouldn't understand anything about her so it just made things difficult.
Seeing Gabe, McKenna hoped things would be different with him. He seemed sweet, after all he did show up with flowers. Her aunt would never set her up with someone who would end up being a mismatch for her, she trusted her aunt, even with her dating life. Smiling McKenna stepped out of the door, kind of eager to get this date started.
Walking along side of him as they made their way to the car McKenna looked at him when he apologized. "My Aunt didn't exactly force me, she just insisted quite a bit." She replied with a soft laugh. Her Aunt dropped hints about it for a week before McKenna finally agreed. Tempie would never make her do anything she didn't want to do but McKenna knew she needed to get out of the house and do something fun. Standing there with Gabe, she found that she was glad she took a chance. "I am glad we are doing this, it's been a while since I've just gone out and have some fun. I just hope I'm not going to disappoint you." She added before sliding into the passenger seat.

Her aunt didn’t force but she insisted quite a bit. Wasn’t that a form of forcing? Eh but maybe that was just him. Huffing out a soft laugh Gabriel simply opted not to raise any opposing idea with her to avoid any discussion that would lead to something ugly. He didn’t want that. After all they had barely started this date.
"I am glad we are doing this, it's been a while since I've just gone out and have some fun. I just hope I'm not going to disappoint you."
The male teen paused for a bit and smiled at her. “And I hope I don’t disappoint you either.” He replied back to her softly. “At least we’re both on the same page.” He added before finally closing the door shut and made his way around the car. Pulling open the driver’s side Gabriel slid inside the closed the door shut.
“Seat belt please.” He reminded her at the same time that he put his seat belt on. Still with a smile on his lips he pushed the key into the ignition hole and brought his car back to life. It wasn’t long before he was pulling away from the curb and was making his way towards their destination.

Smiling when he said he didn't want to disappoint her either, McKenna thought there was no way he could. He showed up with a beautiful arrangement of flowers and even opened the door for her, he was off to a great start. A much better start than other first dates McKenna had been on. It was nice however to be on the same page. It meant they were both going to give this date all their effort, at least McKenna was. There was something about Gabriel that just drew her in and she found herself wanting to know more about him. She only hoped he felt the same.
Getting comfortable in the seat McKenna looked around the vehicle. Her Aunt always told her you could tell a lot about someone from how their car looked. Gabriel's car was very clean and orderly, at least she thought so. Smiling when he got in, she put her seat belt on. She found his request a bit amusing, he apparently was a very cautious driver and made sure all of his passengers were safe. McKenna had plans to put her seat belt on anyways but it was nice that he was concerned for her safety.
"So where are you taking me?" She asked with a smirk. She wasn't one for surprises, in fact she hated them. It didn't matter what kind of surprise it was, they always turned out bad for her. Maybe it was the fear of the unknown. It could also be that when she got scared her powers acted up. She was slowly starting to master them but sometimes she'd lose control and slip, she didn't want to do that tonight. If that happened that may be her first and last date with the handsome Gabriel.
