HISTORY. the final addition to the charmed trio, of course nick had been born last. growing up having a different father than his two brothers was awkward at times, to say the least. never did he really say anything about it, but sometimes he just felt like such an outsider. especially since there were times he went to visit his actual father alone, a whitelighter whose name was zachary hayes. it wasn't often, considering how busy the man always seemed to be, but it was still more than enough to bother him. at least he didn't take on his father's surname to make matters worse, he had the same as his brothers thanks to his mother having legal custody of him.
secretly feeling like an awkward third wheel, nick sort of just followed his brothers' leads throughout the years. even if they got him into trouble or wanted him to do something he'd rather not, he just went right along with it. honestly, if he had any sort of problem, he just kept it to himself instead of bothering them with it. and at the same time, he'd be all too willing to help them with theirs. there had even been a time he had a bully in middle school and kept hiding or dismissing his injuries. hell, even when his father was killed off by a demon, he hardly let his hardships show and just bottled it all up. but to this day, he still carries around an old pocket watch that zachary had given him.
it was during high school that he developed the majority of his sense of humor, he started brushing things off in a comical fashion. however, he may have taken things a little overboard, considering how he starting having trouble taking much of anything seriously. and if he was in a serious situation, he'd try joking around to make light of whatever it was. nick isn't too good under pressure either, so if that doesn't work he sort of just crumbles. most of the time he tries sticking around his brothers though, since he generally feels more vulnerable when alone.
when his powers manifested, he hadn't even been serious about training or getting better. normally he just used them for playing pranks or something. however, shortly after he graduated high school when he sensed something terrible had happened, he knew and told his brothers that the charmed ones had been defeated. it had been the first time he had a premonition without having to actually touch a person or object, but the development certainly hadn't left a good feeling. the power of three had been passed on to them and he certainly didn't like it. responsibility wasn't something he handled well, and he suddenly had been tasked with vanquishing evil.
as much as he wished he could get away from it, he knew that wasn't an option. whether he liked it or not, he knew that he hadn't really a choice and would have to actually get stronger in order to not bring his brothers down. he doesn't want it to be his fault that they die, no way.
